Regarding the FLAC/CUE RAW image aspect - I guess that is only important
if you are ripping with the purpose of achieving a restorable archive.
That's never been my Raison d'ĂȘtre

indeed, me neither, just thought that there was no reason to lose that ability, just in case, all other things being equal; but it appears that they're not quite equal...

I did notice another thread that discussed where people keep their CDs
and was surprised at how many stuff them in the attic or basement. We're
again getting into thread-crap territory here, so I apologise in
advance, but I prefer to see the CDs - it's like books and DVDs - they
are an integral part of who I am and what my tastes are and whether or
not anyone else ever sees them on display, I do and it's kind of a
comfort.

I agree; sadly I don't have the space, so they're going in the loft :(

Besides, do you all rip EVERY album? I sure as hell don't and
would never want to - this is the WHEAT from CHAFF concept which surely
must impact others?

No, I rip everything. If I play a CD, then I lose all the benefits of LMS, e.g. playing on multiple devices, handy remote apps, etc, etc.

each to their own, as you say :)
