Hi,

yes Matthew, this is another option that I'm considering, even though I would like some firewire device (in order to be used with some atom fan-less mini-pc). If I understood you correctly, RME HDSPe RayDAT works ok with linux, doesn't it? What about your experience with AD/DA conversion of ADA8000, does it sound good?
Many thanks again for the information.

I have not used these in a broadcast application but have used them in a live sound / DAW application. RME HDSPe RayDAT PCIe card with Behringer UltraGain Pro-8 ADA8000. That should give you plenty of I/O in your studio.

    Hi again,

Thanks a lot for this useful information and for your quick responses.

Nowadays we are using a Delta-66 card in our main Rivendell server. Even
though in our new studios we want to use ADAT technology in order to send
the audio between studios and control system. So, we are planning to use
also Ardour as a mixer and DAW and use rivendell in all our studios (3) in
the same machines. That is the reason for which we need a sound card with
    some ins/outs.
If some of you are using a sound card with ADAT and some ins/outs, please
    let me know.

    Many thanks in advance.

NOTE: Those M-Audio Delta cards use breakout boxes for the I/O and the so
called balanced inputs are not truely balanced. We use them for our
Abacast stream encoder and we got terrible cross talk until I opened it
up to find their trick to make it look balanced when it's not. So we
ended up putting 1:1 600ohm isolation transformers in the cable just
after the TRS plug. So if you are needing truely balanced inputs, There
are plenty of other cards out there that are much better then the M-Audio
Delta. It sounds ok now but put my boss (the Dir of Eng) and I through
rounds of fits to figure it out for over 2 months.

I have had great success with the M-Audio Delta series of PCI cards, I
know that's not what you asked about but if you have a PCI slot I would
urge you to consider them, they come from 2 to 8 analog balanced I/O's
        most have S/PDIF also.

The Echo Cards are well liked amongst the DAW community, though I cannot
speak to thier Linux compatability or use with RD.
