Hi Alan,

I don't have experience with professional soundcards like ASI, but I think
the great benefit is in terms of latency... But I am not an expert.

We have M-Audio Delta 1010, obviously via ALSA driver. We bought it one
year ago, 2nd hand, for 150€ and we are quite happy about it. We changed
the D-Sub 25 cable with a longer one (10mt), no problem. You should use
'envy24control' to tweak a bit, but we couldn't manage to set levels
properly. Here in Europe it's still in shops...

Maybe alternatives could be

- ECHO Layla3G
