Who was it at the meeting who said that pyramid.net had $50/mo ADSL
service? I'm looking at their site, but the cheapest I see is $60 ($20 +
$40 line charge), but that's for 384k.

Which brings up an interesting point... It's amazing that non-telco DSL
providers can survive at all, with the line charges SBC imposes.
Pyramid.net is getting the same price (actually $2 less) for 384k dsl as
they do for 56k dialup. Yeesh.

That being said, SBC has been fine for me service-wise. Maybe 4 small
outages in a year. The reason why I'M shopping around is rather silly,
but shows how they can be a MegaCorp... My billing date for DSL is on the
1st of the month, but the telephone bill it's included with varies
depending on whether the 1st is on a business day or not. What that means
it sometimes I will get bills for 2 months of DSL service, followed by a
bill with no DSL service on it, or vice versa. Telephone side can't do
much about it, since they two sides act as separate companies, and the
telephone side just bills whenever they receive the bill from the DSL
side. The DSL side, on the other hand, could change the date they send
the bill to the telephone side, but they refuse to.

It makes budgeting a nightmare when you're never sure if the next bill
will be normal, double, or nothing. Ugh.
