It sounds like you want a pre-built system, but I'm a doitcherselfer as
far as PCs go, so this is my advice for a build-your-own person.

As far as buying hardware and, to some degree, software, newegg
<http://www.newegg.com> has always been exceptionally good for price,
service, and selection.  For a local, walk-in option, I like PC Club (in
the CompUSA shopping center facing S. Virginia St).  They have good
prices on what they have, but their selection is somewhat limited.

I'm not a big fan of dual-boot systems, despite the fact that I started
using linux on a dual-boot Win32/SuSE box.  For many people it's too
easy to fall back on the OS they're more comfortable with.  But, as you
are a multi-OS type of guy, Jay, you'll probably do just fine. :)
