Yes, that was the message I was thinking of.

Main differences are (i) there is no "minimum of one output port" 
stipulation -- you get as many output ports as devices, with the 
default being none if you have no MIDI playback devices available on 
startup and you have created none in your studio (of course more ports 
get created when you create devices in the studio); and (ii) there is 
not yet any option to have the connections managed solely with an 
external connection manager -- you currently always have to wait for RG 
to do its automatic connections and then override them.

OK, sounds good.  There are various set_dest calls which probably all 
have the same requirement -- haven't a moment to look at this now, if
