Must second that. I hardly play any guitar at all, but I /did/ work my way through two course-books, with not a \clef "G_8" in sight. It's not unheard of that instruments use the - technically speaking - wrong clef for their music notation. The soprano recorder is similar: it is (almost) always written with \clef "G" while actually it should be \clef "G^8". (I hope I got the LilyPond notation right.) The sopranino recorder is the same. Alto recorders always get a \clef "G" and are usually denoted properly - but not always: sometimes their notes are written as if there were a \clef "G^8" in front even when there isn't. Similarly, euphonium parts are commonly written using \clef "G" and then sound a full ninth lower than written. (To make things more complicated: they /also/ have parts written in \clef "F" and then sound as written /or/ a secund lower than written - but if a treble clef appears in the middle of these scores then it should /not/ sound a ninth lower. And then occasionally you even see a C clef on the fourth line. Being a musician ain't easy.) In wind bands, bass tuba parts get an F clef when there should've been an F_8. In other words: examples abound. Groeten, -- Jasper ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more? Need to support web services, security?
