Truthfully, I didn't know what I was putting in that list. I just grabbed at
one I thought could be easy for me to tackle. I knew Chris had added the
<<operator fix to misc/Strings.cpp; therefore, was some gravy involved in
taking that task.
I also don't find overloaded operators that intimidating. I find STL and
massive GUI toolkits intimidating.

I was thinking of this concept for many of the dialog and configuration widgets
we have. The Qt C++ programming guide does this. I might be over my head, but
I thought it would be a good way to debug appearances and basic functionality
of these widgets in isolation if our code was still broken and we wanted some
more to work with while the big guns do there thing.
It seems pretty easy to create a small program with main() which call up the
widget of concern. Of course it won't function correctly--interactively, but
we could do much to adjust layouts and appearances. We could also make sure
basic things are working.
Getting an easy test box to use might be the trick, but it could be a lot of
gravy work for folks like us to test each module and tweak small sets of code.
