I'd like to say I was only thinking of removing the velocity ruler itself, not the rulers in general. I already talked myself out of that one after CJ's last reply anyway, but I was thinking that way because the velocity tool makes the velocity ruler in the matrix seem redundant to me. Too many ways to accomplish exactly the same thing. I'm not going on some let's simplify everything crusade, I was just trying to think whether this was something we could simplify this time. Our interface really is a mess the way, due to the organic way we have grown and acquired features over the years. The right click instrument assignment menus are redundant now, and we could make a good case for just having users twiddle the controls in the TPB now, but that one is too deeply ingrained in me for me to get used to making assignments any other way. A lot of things are going to turn out like that, and we probably won't be able to simplify much. It's like the discussion we had with Guillaume a couple years ago about how to simplify the toolbars by getting rid of the things nobody uses. Everybody had large blocks of things they'd be happy to see removed, but there wasn't anything at all that nobody ever used. -- D.
