I beat on it pretty hard, and a) it never crashed, and b) it only did questionable things when I got just outlandishly stupid about what I fed to it. The old code probably did too. You've got a tied collection of about 100 notes of random durations spanning many bars, and you try to collapse it. What is Rosegarden supposed to do with that mess? It winds up drawing a double dotted breve and then finally leaving it at that, even though the double dotted breve isn't nearly long enough to represent the real duration. I can live with that. This approach seems a lot more solid, and I'm glad I didn't have to think it up myself. A win for everybody in Rosegarden Land today. So what's left? I guess just the progress dialog parenting problem. Since we need a solution fast, I'm thinking maybe we figure out how to reparent the dialog to the correct window instead of trying to figure out when to suppress it. I have a vague idea what I'm talking about. I'll look at that right quick. -- D.
