For some time I've been trying (and failing) to get my head round LV2, so I don't envy anyone implementing this from scratch. It would be a lot of work - a completely new backend in fact. While I appreciate it would be useful for some, it's not something I've any interest in.
Jack MIDI, I've no real opinion either way. Actually, as soon as you support Jack Audio you're halfway to getting MIDI as well if you want it. Again, personally I have no need for it. The ALSA sequencer does exactly what I want.
