Hi Sampo,

Because for better or for worse, only the chairs can initiate a
consensus check. A straw poll would be just that, unlikely to garner
enough participation to make any definitive statement one way or
another.

Please forgive any combative tone. I'm frustrated because the question
should have been asked when Tony came back from Anaheim in March
suddenly with "the RRG's recommendation." When asked to consider the
group's views on its inclusion he responded, "There is no intent or
implication to represent this as a consensus result."

That's beside the point. This is our document, our findings. If it
can't include our recommendations then it shouldn't include any.

If Tony allows a consensus check, which he hasn't and today reiterated
that he won't, I suspect we'd find that most of the participants
agree.
