Maybe I could help with the site, too, but I'm not sure what to do right now.

One thing I wish see changed at the website is online version of HTML docs. Having them browseable does not really help when they are installed on a user's server without GUI and web server on it. Newest version of docs which is published on the site is not very reliable when you are not brave one using bleeding edge software. You never know if this doc applies to you setup.

It would be better for users to have several versions of docs on the site, at least, for major branches as 5-stable, 7-stable, 7-devel and master. It may increase you traffic, though.

Sorry for a suggestion :)

Florian will send (or already has) credentials.

Since it is a WordPress site, I would suggest that we make our updates as
unpublished documents, for new pages so they can be reviewed. Something
similar should be considered for existing pages as well. That way we can
try to catch mistakes or typos that we are bound to make from time to time.

yeah, but review also costs resources. I think an occasional typo is less
of a problem than no doc at all. We'll set it to "publishing permitted". If
you do not feel ok with this in the beginning, just send a review request.
In all other case, I think it would be a solution to send a quick
announcement to the list, in the hopes that someone will read and comment
if required.

Just in case I had not mentioned that: there are also the rsyslog forums,
which also receive their share of questions. Judging from the google logs,
they also receive a fair share of FAQ-type traffic. If you like, we can
rank you there, too. It lives here:

In general, we are very open to web page suggestions. I am *not* really
happy with the current state, but Adiscon will not pay for a web or UI
designer (that's part of the picture that this is not a multi-million
dollar biz but more traditional OSS). I can't promise we will integrate
suggestions immediately, but I am very interested in improving the state.
I'll drive the internal politics if necessary ;)

Bottom line: everything is changable. But we would like to have the site
run on our own infrastructure. I also frankly admit that the google ads
finally pay for the infrastructure and so this is probably one of the few
things that is very hard to change ;) [It's far from big money, but pays
the virtual servers and traffic - since 6 month or so ;)].

Radu, James, all,

if you like, I can create accounts for you on the rsyslog site so that you
can create FAQ and similar content right there. This is a pretty plain
Wordpress site, so no need to know HTML or anything else but how to use a
browser ;)

Let me know and we can get this started *today*.
