First of all apparently the problem is well known and solved some time

With this file everything works as it should!

No, my WM is xmonad, there are in deed keys that could interfere but not
the function keys F1...F12. As I said the work flawlessly in other
terminals.

Mmh, the only reason I use emacs in a terminal is that I usually feel no
need for a `standalone' emacs. I do a lot things in a terminal-emulator
and I'm just to lazy to leave it (I unfortunately have a certain affinity
for Goncharov's Oblomov ;-))

I see. I only have disabled it. Maybe I'll remap it this way.
