They appear to be standard gauge and used in hauling ore. Chile does 
have broad gauge as well as meter gauge lines but I doubt if the SDs 
were purchased for them.

Incidentally there was a "Tracks Ahead" (PBS) show on Chile and a 
tape can be purchased at:

I didn't know they had 'Little Joe" Electric locos too!
