The demographic that should be looked at is the aging baby boomer who 
can't see HO anymore. That is why On30 has gained ground so quickly. 
On30 is the right size but most people aren't narrow gaugers. There is 
a void that can be filled by S scale. A comparably detailed RTR HO car 
is going about $25 bucks discounted and N scale is about $17. The new 
Life Like and Athearn RTR locomotives are in the $90-125 range.
