The reason O scale 2-rail looks like (and is) gaining ground is because 
the 2-rail guys broke away from the 3-rail folks to promote their 
particular brand of O.  They have their own shows, convention, 
magazines, etc.  They don't feel compelled to keep "united" at all 
costs.  There were some very lean years in the beginning, but 
perseverence has paid off.  It's working for them, and it could work 
for S.
