Bob,
So how do you know Des Plaines has the Mullet River cabooses since there's
nothing on either the Mullet River site or the Des Plaines site? And how would
anyone else know?

  Bill,

I think your totally missing the point of a printed piece distributed a
couple of times a year. First off it is true lot's of guys hate the
computer or don't even have one. Next anything we do MUST increase our
numbers--you do that by marketing to the unwashed (think toyota
here--who was buying those corn poppers in the 60's verses today?). S
needs to look like we're 'together', not like the 60's where everything
was cobbled together and when we didn't even have wheels!

Next S is not in a lull--yes a couple of the big guys are taking a break
but I just received a Mullet River caboose from DesPlains, just finished
painting and weathering the Cryer Gray gondola, built the Kaslo NYC
caboose, and am looking forward to building Pine Canyon's new false
front block. I'm having to pass of DesPlains new schemes on his new
freight cars for awhile but they are new, that new grocery store/barber
shop looks neat and you have already mentioined BTS stuff. If you
follow the Sn3 crowd they are all talking about the new PBL K engine in
the $600 range--watch the narrow gauge faction grow quite a bit. I like
building structures alot--there are so many new ones, I could build a
whole new layout with all new structures.

Yes we do need more modern stuff, because that's where our growth will
come from. If you go to any train show you will see mostly modern
stuff--double stacks, auto racks and coal trains pulled by the latest
engines. I wonder if any of our clubs are showing any of that stuff at
the shows. Actually since the US and Canada have only six major
railroads the lettering and paint schemes are less of financial concern
for our importers.

I just think the world needs to be hit on the head--and often with what
we have to offer. Eventually it will take root!
