Ed-

Ron's long awaited FMC 5283 boxcars were released in May. Very, very nice and
very welcome. A prototype of his PS Railbox was on display at a convention last
summer so perhaps its general release is just around the corner.

SHS USRA covered hopper (including an NYC paint scheme) has been delayed but is
coming.

Gents....Perhaps I am from a different planet, but I have not noticed
hardly any new MAJOR products becoming available in the past eighteen
months or so. In the loco department, River Raisin Models' SP steam
program is wonderful, but not here yet. Same with the 0-6-0. Not to
mention Budd cars. Lotsa announcements, but no hardware at this
time -- although RRM's SP stuff is enroute from Korea. Good old Jim
King has released some new resin freight car kits. But what other
new (not mere repaints) freight cars have recently become available?
No new passenger cars at all. Seems to me that new S products are,
for the most part, MINOR things like details, smaller structures,
decals, etc. BTS, being an exception to my general observation, has
announced some larger S structures, but that is about all in the
structure department. Am I missing anything truly significant here
that has become available (read: in stock) during the past two
years? Fingers are crossed....Ed L.
