Just a minor thought: Reference coupler height gages and coupler installation.

When I originaly invented, produced and sold the only (at the time) S-Scale
coupler height Gage, Jack Troxell machined the Master pattern for me to my
specs. The original "Loeb Investments" Coupler Height Gage was designed based
on current scale wheel flange depth, and therefore could theoretically be used
to check coupler heigth sitting flat on a work surface with car riding on
flanges.

However then as NOW, flange depths vary from one manufacturer to the other and
from different "times" wheels were manufactured. So the "only" way the height
gauge should be used, is to gauge and check with the NASG (formerly "Loeb
Investments") S Scale Coupler Height Gage stradeling the rails and car sitting
on the rails. This may seem to be obvious to some, maybe not to neophites to
the installation of "magnetic" couplers.

For those of you wanting to put simulated "scale" couplers (like Kadee/SHS
etc.) on AF/Lionel/K-Lines and others cars still using Hi-Rail wheels this is
especially important, as there is a much greater variation in flange sizes in
Hi-Rail and the truck mounted coupler also changes coupler heights from one
make to the other.

By the way, it is not a major problem to convert typical AF cars to Kadee
#5/802 or SHS couplers, does require some modification of coupler drfat gear
box and or drilling/tapping a mounting hole. I have also converted an AF
manual/electric uncoupler to work with AF and Kadee/SHS couplers and it works
great.

So for Scale buffs some help maybe and for highrail buffs some help maybe?

I am in process of getting my own web site up and running and would welcome
your comments, input etc.
Thanks to those who have already responded...it is appreciated.
