All, I have used Chameleon paint stripper a few times on plastic models with good success. They claim it is safe for ALL plastics but still recommend a small pretest before going for the big no turning back now dunk! It is expensive, but when compared to schmelting a 1 of a kind scratchbuilt AS16 shell, I ponied up for the 2 bottles. I would highly recommend it. I have not tried Chameleon on any SHS products though. In case you have not noticed, they arrive new in the box perfectly painted and lettered for the Mighty PRR so there is NO reason that I would (or anyone else for that matter) have to strip off a perfectly good PRR paint job. The most difficult paint I have ever stripped before I got my blast booth was a Jade Green RRM NYC Bay window caboose. It just goes along with the program that something NYC would be difficult to work with.... That paint was truly bulletproof! Anyway, I had to strip it 5+ times eventually working up to using Tal Stripping gel. That stuff is vicious! If it drips on you, count to 6 and it tells you where it is. I think that was for Don DeWitt years ago. Did he want it painted for Penn Central? I don't remember. I wonder if the caboose still exists or still have my new paint on it. Cleaning the Tal strip and paint goop off was no picnic either.....
