Hi Dave;

Windows and doors are available from a number of sources like Grandt Line,
Banta, GC Lasercraft etc. Keep in mind that HO and O scale parts work as larger
or smaller windows in S.

Siding is available from Evergreen or Plastruct (a number of people have noted
that the Plastruct HO/ 1/100 brick sheet is really close to perfect S scale).
Banta, BTS and others have parts like fire plugs, drain grates, etc. Many or
the old SS Ltd line of detail parts are really large and/or bulky for HO so
work well in S. These are now available from JAKS IIRC. Great Decals has
printed adhesive man hole covers/grates in S. Clever Models has a lot of great
printed textures as well as paper based structures.

I have used the Walthers HO street lights successfully in S as well.

   Hi Bob, I can probably use backdrop photos for most of the large
downtown type buildings with closer buildings formed as flats against
the backdrops. My main concern was the availability of components such
as siding materials, windows, doors, utility infrastructure, etc.
  Does any one know if architects build much in 3/16 scale? That large
Cincinatti S scale layout had to get all those parts somewhere?
              Regards, Dave Branum
