For my last layout I cut all the benchwork wood with muscle-powered saws
because it made less sawdust in the basement.  This was in the 1980's and it
wasn't a 4'X8' either (approx. 27' X 34').  So having only hand tools is not
an excuse.  I was thinner then, I wonder why.  I guess because I use power
saws now, but I don't cut wood in the train room (basement).

Geez, I built a layout in the middle of the last century with hand tools,
plywood and pine lumber, cookie cutter with a "keyhole" saw. That is what
everyone did.
