Hi Ed --

I have no way of knowing the truthfullness of our conversations (John and
myself), but according to him, Boo Rim got a huge package of materials in
preparation for the project. I know John spent a LOT of money getting the
plans package together (I helped a bit) and it apparently overwhelmed Boo
Rim who didn't want to make an exact model, but a useful one. John
indicated that Boo Rim got many thousand dollars for the preliminary work.
If that is so, he was probably in the red from the beginning.

In the past I looked into sponsoring a run of brass cars with Overland
Models. Tom Marsh and I had some lengthy converstations about this, and
the bottom line is that BIG money is involved that I didn't care to risk.
I think John got himself into the same predicament many entrepreneurs do --
not enough capital at the start to guarantee moving past the early stages
and through the tough times. I am also sure that other factors are
involved, but they are more of a personality situation and don't merit
speculation.

I doubt that deposit monies were ever placed in escrow (mistake #1). I am
fairly
sure it was spent (mistake #2).

Do you have first hand knowledge there was NO contract (or contact)? Could
it be that negotiations never were concluded or that John's part of the
contract was unfullfilled?

For Ron S. --

I have been unable to make contact with John for over a year. Have you had
any communications?

I am sure that Jim Kindraka, Dan Navarre and Jettie Padjett can write a book
about this...

Have fun!

Something is amiss with this picture. There never was a contract with a
builder. There never was a pilot model. There were one or two photos of a
detail part or two. Nothing else was ever actually manufactured to the best
of my knowledge. So how can a person lose his shirt (or any other part of
his anatomy) when tooling or manufacturing never got started? It would seem
to me (an innocent bystander for once) that the deposit money should be
lurking in an escrow account somewhere waiting to be refunded. Lots of
speculation with few facts, ...
