Ed, I think only time will tell but if things don't change pretty soon
that would leave DesPlains' S Scale America Line as the major scale
supplier of rolling stock. That is unless we include Lionel's stuff.
Actually if one used the new GE unit with scale wheels plus some
DesPlains' 50' cars, Husky stacks or coal porters one could still make
up a decent train! Add some of the new versions of the Down's tank cars
and you could say we've entered into the contemporary era of model
railroading by default.

I do think some of the dealers might have a fair stock of items and then
there's the used/closet market that will eventually get a new life if
folks don't have to sell below retail.

This could be a situation that I understand Bill Peter's started his
business with. He put together a 'trainset' using PFM/Tomalco C engines
with a few craftsman type kits to get guys interested. Maybe that could
happen is standard S. Put together a couple of Evans boxcars, an AM
gondola, a couple of modern tank cars, a Lionel engine (converted to DC
etc.) and a Fred!
