I can't help thinking that this thread proves many of us (myself included) have more in common with the "collector" side of S gauge than we sometimes like to admit, even if we have no interest in which side of the AF caboose door the knob is on...
I do realize both the importance of knowing and preserving the history of S scale, and that sometimes older products represent prototypes no longer available from current suppliers. Both are valid reasons for interest in decades-old products. I also know many HO layouts are still populated with Athearn Blue Box equipment, some maybe even with the original horn-hooks, so it's not just O and S scale. Pieter E.
