Bill, and Friends (not that Bill isn't a friend)
You've hit the nail on the head. When I got back into modeling in the
early 70's I lived in a single wide mobile home. I started with a small
workbench where I started putting together craftsman type kits and a Rex
Mogul. After my shelf was crammed with finished kits and I was well
into my 30's, I came to realize that I couldn't go much further.
I did what Bill did and invested in a house, with three mortgages and a
lot of fix up. A couple of years after that during a three week winter
vacation and many hours of S friends' time we had a scratch built S
gauge layout room above my garage.
Now, I've passed into my 60's and I can't imagine trying to do even half
of that all over again. Over the weekend I had to resolder a wire in a
control panel--I needed a little wire, solder, some tools and two
Advil's before I crawled down there! I'm still a pretty good "get with
it guy" but age takes it toll without permission!
