Been a busy time here in the frozen tundra. We thought that we had spring here
but then we got another 1/2 inch of freezing rail and then six inches of snow.
Frankly, I am tired of this and looking forward to the change of seasons.
Found the string about something wrong with the group tough to follow, did we
determine it is loose nuts at the keyboard to be the issue? There was
something about cabeese, if you mentioned the cabeese kits that Des Plaines
sells, they were produced for him by Mullet River, a small community outside of
Green Bay, named for some hockey player with a bad haircut I think. Paul Riley
imported a nice brass wide vision caboose many decades ago, I am sure there are
a number of these under and on layouts around the world.
This week the Pines and Prairies S Scale Workshop visited the Minnesota
Heartland. One project downstairs has been fixing lights. Seems after 25
years (maybe 35?) ballasts start failing. I am replacing them with high
efficiency ballasts and bulbs. As Walt pointed out, a new fixture is just as
inexpensive, true but I like going high efficiency and saving energy.
The guys gave me some good feedback on my view block projects, I will update
the photos of the project in my file later this week. Ben downloaded some
photos he took of Steve's layout and I will post them also this weekend. Steve
has been busy when he is in town and there are some nice new scenes that I want
to share with you.
I will also call Ron at Des Plaines to get an update on the convention car, we
appreciate everyone's understanding of the situation and look forward to
getting these cars to everyone. I hope to hear news on the DS-45 project also.
Walt Jopke is really chaffing at the bit on this one. he and I will both
create lashups of these in Northern Pacific. walt suggests he will do a couple
in the Pig Sty Blue Great Northern scheme. What a shame.
