I asked a friend who is the department head of the chemistry department at a
college and a avid O gauge nut, about the floor wax.

He said that is a great idea and see’s no reason why not to use this on ballast.

So you got the blessing from a chemical person.

This must be in the latest Dispatch? I have not gotten mine yet, so I am
looking forward to reading about this.

I soak the ballast/ground cover with a wetting agent of water, alcohol, and
dishwashing detergent, then apply the Future Acrylic Floor Wax. It definitely
does not leave a sheen on ballast, etc, and nothing noticeable on plastic tie
strip.

I just tried it this morning on a short section of main line, so can't give a
full report until it has time to cure, but so far I'm impressed.

I've used white glue diluted with water in the past, but it dries so solid that
it's a bear to remove if you have to. I've also used acrylic matte medium
diluted with water to the consistency of milk I can give a report later on how
Future compares, but Bob Jackson is impressed with it, and so far, so am I
