They are the same cars, they just change the wheels and put funky scale
couplers on the 2 rail cars. Atlas wouldn't be building O scale now if they
could sell to the 3 rail crowd.
The toy train guys are also what gave us the gift of SHS and American models S
scale equipment so there's no getting over the fact that they have to be
considered in any new product design if one wants to maximize sales and lower
the prices to mass production prices.
I think the easy solution for those who want a lot of exact scale cars is to
just model in HO gauge where almost everything is here already and waiting to
be built or run. I model in all scales and know that whatever one chooses is
the right scale for them at the time so I don't understand getting all upset
about what S does or doesn't have when there is a ready to go simple option?
