Many roads used the Pacifics. I suppose there were as delivered variations,
but I would also think that those variations would not necessarily require a
re-tool, just some add-ons. But I am not an authority on the subject.

Wonder if the 3rd Rail/Sunset folks  read this list?

I MIGHT possibly have been interested in a 2-8-0, but otherwise--especially
given the cost of S scale brass--there is nothing SP that would tempt me to
dig into the
piggybank.
Perhaps the rationale for Sunset's thinking about the SP Pacific is not only
that they are located in California but that they probably already have most
of the prototype
information for one from having done it in O scale (could even be several
times over the years--I haven't paid much attention since I wasn't
interested, I do own a
Sunset SP 2-8-0, which is pretty good for a basic model, and one of the SP
2-6-0's from the PRC).

Checking their website they still have a few available now. It doesn't take a
