<<< BS Mode: ON >>>

(Actually, just about any post you see with my name attached is "BS Mode".)

IMNSHO: All the mfg'ers have it tough right now. Even in HO. The typical
modeler has gotten so discriminating in their tastes, as well as wanting it
RTR... that I don't see how any of the mfg'ers can make meaningful profits.

Heck, I'm just glad to have SOMETHING available in S scale that is even
CLOSE to what I want. That so, I reckon' I'll just have to revert back to
being a MODELER and turn that item that was "CLOSE" item into something
that's "good e'nuf" and be happy. To wit: My Baldwin projects.

Will my Frisco DS4-4-1000 be a Museum Masterpiece? No way. Will it resemble
a Frisco DS4-4-1000 Baldwin and sound like a Baldwin? Absolutely. Thus,
"good e'nuf" has been achieved.

I've decided that all is not perfect in the S scale kingdom... so if I'm
going to have S scale gems puttering about on my layout that reminds me of
pleasant childhood memories... I just MAY have to accept the fact that that
it might not be up to my finicky standards of the past. That so, maybe I've
slipped some from my lofty heights of yore... but hey... I'm getting older
and I wanna' play trains. I don't wanna' sit on my a$$ and wait (and hope)
that the item is made "someday". What can I say? Time's a'wastin', that
sort of thing.

If I wasn't so hopelessly hooked on the KC area... the GN would be high on
my priority list as a "definite maybe" for a modeling subject. That Empire
Builder scheme on the psgr and freight F's (as well as the hood units) was
pure CLASS. AND the scheme weathered with interesting effects that would be
fun to replicate.

All for now.
