In many cases, an alternate project is just not in the cards. If you don't want a pacific, then there is no point in thinking about it. If it is a matter of the SPECIFIC prototype, I suggest taking a longer look at the model and at the locomotives on your prototype. It may be that with a few detail changes and some paint and decals you would have a usable engine. While few steam locomotives are exactly the same, many are similar enough that this could be a potential stand-in. Don't be put off just by the advertised road name. Pieter E.
