Without knocking LIONEL, they are first & foremost a Marketing Company,
making things to sell to a market they think they know. When I let them know
about the failings of some of their "S" products, the constant answer is
that they aren't hearing it so it must not be true. I can only guess from
that that people are spending money that may be much harder to get than it
used to be for an inferior product and then "forgetting about it" when it
breaks in the box or as it is being removed from the box. Any other
ideas??? Several people have told me how to fix the broken car I have, I WANT
IT
REPLACED, IT WAS INFERIOR WHEN IT WAS MADE, SHIPPED, SOLD AND THE BOX WAS
OPENED. I WILL remind them of that again. For being "marketers" they have
NO understanding of "their" markets potential.

Your thinking that if Lionel were to produce a scale model (or at least
one
with scale wheels), it would be a good thing for S is correct IMO. But
what
I think you've run into here is that for most scale S scalers, the idea of
Lionel as a potential source for scale models is a really alien and remote
concept. Hence, the skepticism (and even negativity) toward Lionel, which
I
don't think has been really directed at you or your opinion.
