I don't need any string, but you might if you bring a DCC equipped locomotive to run on SHABBONA, since it's not set up for DCC.
Seriously, though, when I planned the control panels about twenty-some years ago, and was still being swooned by the DCC siren song, I did assign a block selector position for the possible addition of DCC. It's all wired and ready to go, either with a DC or DCC throttle. I can't say for sure, but I think someone could hook up a DCC system and run it in conjunction with the DC throttles, with the common ground wiring system I use, just by assigning block power with the existing wiring. Maybe someone who's more familiar with DCC could add some input.
