Bob, you are correct in every way.  I have four control panels, three of 
which were built during my DC daze.  When I switched to Dynatrol all I 
did was add their power supplies to my rotary switches.  When I started 
my DCC system, I pretty much did the same thing by just switching out 
wires.  It's worked fairly well although several of the DCC accessories 
might have some conflicts.

All this has worked fairly well until I did recently made some changes 
in the housekeeping department of my main control panel, under the 
layout cabling and at the same time moving my DCC system.  This has 
resulted in a very frustrating time for me.  What I thought would take a 
couple of hours, now has taken me two weeks of spare time.  My main 
control panel's wiring resembled a drain clog!  My whole system has been 
thrown into a mostly non-functioning static layout.  However, I'm on the 
downward slope of that hill--so I hope to up and running again this 
weekend.  Actually it has to work as I have open house for National 
Model Railroad Month in a couple of weeks.
