I was hoping to see some discussion about Jeff's idea on this list.

Obviously, the funding would be the largest obstacle. I'm no longer on the
Board of the NASG, but I would hope that they would seriously consider Jeff's
proposal. Although, we may be excited about having a "scale" SGMR, we shouldn't
forget that the AF-based SGMR would be a great promotional tool to get more
folks into the scale via the tinplate route. Maybe some discussion on the
S-trains list would be helpful in that respect.

I looked at all of Jeff's suggestions for the content of the magazine and
thought that it would make for a great periodic S magazine as well, but we
should start somewhere. If it's a go, I would like to volunteer to help out
with the articles on some of the layouts based in the Northeast, since several
of them are in the Lehigh Valley S Gaugers club and folks like Dan and Sam are
close by.

IMO, S has taken a beating lately in the publicity wars and is "s"nubbed more
and more. I see it in venues like Model Railroad Hobbyist and the paper mags.
It's not entirely their fault because the balls in our court. We either keep
preaching to a shrinking choir, or we try to get S back on a growth cycle.
Things like an SGMR would be a great way to start.
