My own website is devoted to my scale layout, but I do have a separate page for American Flyer that can be clicked to. I explain why it's separate. Maybe we don't give the average MR enough credit to know the difference between toy trains and scale trains. No trouble with O. You either have 2-rail track or 3-rail. Maybe if AF ran on 3-rail track it would make education of the masses easier <G>. Ed L's suggestion is not a deal breaker. If the web master of the new NASG site keeps the home page free of lobster claws and provides AF info through special tabs or links, it should work out fine.
Now that Sam Powell has joined our local NMRA division (South Mountain, MER), we now have THREE S scalers actively participating in the division. Each of us has done clinics at meetings, etc. Richard Lind does an exellent newsletter and I do the website making sure that S is well represented without bugging the HO membership. Check it out at www.smdnmra.org I've tried to encourage more participation on the MRH site for the same reasons. Every time you post something on your blog there or comment on other blogs, you promote S scale. With the loss of another S scaler to N scale (a lack of room problem), I'm the only S promoter right now and I'm sure that seeing the same old people doing the posting does little to get others excited about S. We need lots and lots of scalers participating in such venues as the NMRA or MRH to make much of a difference. If we don't, six months from now, we'll recycle the same discussion. Jeff's proposal is a chance to do something or get off the pot. We should get it done and then tackle the job of promoting it. But first: "Get Er Done"!
