Hi Ed;

I can't fully answer all your questions, as I'm not as familiar with the
internal workings of NASG as some list members.

I don't know how much funding a digital publication would require. If it could
be hosted on a free site, and all contributions and work were voluntary, it
could cost nothing! Then again, the quality could suffer, and the fate of the
1/64 Scale SIG shows what can happen when a single individual is "in charge"
and has everything in his name then loses interest.

The SIG story as I recall was that there was discussion on this list that the
former SIG had been abandoned. NASG board members on the list promised to "look
into" reviving it as a tie-in to the NASG. Mr. Bendever was the new owner of
the Modeling Guide, and stole a march on them, registering with NMRA as the new
SIG owner. Advantage of an individual acting alone is quick response (when he
chooses). Dis-advantage, he clearly has no interest in the SIG any longer, but
has not responded to folks contacting him about doing what is necessary to
transfer ownership. Maybe he thinks he will do something with it "one day real
soon".

I'm all for Bob Nalbone being involved if he is willing. Doing something
through the Modelling Guide is great, but I don't see that filling the role of
showing the main stream of model railroading that 'S' is still viable.

I'll note that the NASG election usually features a group of people running
un-opposed (I think the nominating committee struggles to get a name for each
position). Maybe those of us who are unhappy with the the actions of the
current board should consider running next year.

I didn't think you were picking a fight, Ed. Anybody asking questions about my
comments has at least read and thought about them! I think we are really on the
same page.
