Actually we do manage to get the message out that there is more to S than AF. 
It's like a runner who clears the first hurdle. Then you run up against other 
hurdles higher than the first one. 
"If I had to start over, it would be in S, but I have too much invested in HO".
or "Their isn't much available in S".  

The only answer is that we need people new to the hobby to choose S.
OK, now how do we do that? Good luck with problems like hobby shop exposure, 
lack of train sets, etc.

Other that that we'll have to be satisfied with the occasional convert just 
like it's been for the entire history of S scale.

BTW, it's interesting how we segwayed from an SGMR to renaming the NASG, etc.
