'Either we learn to live together as brothers, or perish apart as fools', MLK
Jr. Don't get lulled into a false sense of omnipotence by modern technology.
The Internet and CAD design doesn't guarantee our future. Our fore-fathers
included "UNITED" in NASG logo for a good reason. Only by working together
will "S" scale survive. IMHO, splinter groups will only precipitate our
demise.

American Flyer will die a natural death when those who received train sets as
kids do. When it does, there will be a very large & cheap source of "S" GAUGE
for conversion to SCALE. This may be unacceptable to armchair modelers, but
welcome by layout operators with through trains in and out of staging. Also a
boon for cottage industry of conversions products (floors, bolsters, trucks,
doors, ladders, roofwalks, brakewheels, etc...).

Whether "S" scale survives depends on how well we get along now and in the
future.
