Michael,

If you can assemble a diesel from the Cannon parts then you should seek out a
series of article in the older Mainline Modelers about Bill Geraci, a northern
Ohio native, and his scratch build of a GP30 in S scale. While you're at it
there were several other articles about Bill in MM including one that may have
been titled "A modeler you should know" or something like that. Bill was also
capable of starting with a pig's ear and turning into an Milwaukie Eriebuilt.
I believe that he also did the original work for the masters for the Ominicon
Sharks (which someone later botched when they started to strip the masters and
gave the A unit a dimple)

Lastly, if you old enough you may have heard of his brother Sonny Geraci, lead
singer for the groups the Outsiders and Climax.
