Ben has a good idea. I would go for the kit form. Lets help Jim with what we
see more of in real life. Remember that American Models has the Yellow Railbox
car.  Yes we have more modern cars out there you just have to look. One car I
would like is the Auto carrier, and coilcars. my 2 cents worth.

Subject: {S-Scale List} Interesting Discussion on SSTOT - Was Re: Solutions for
S scale growth, by me.

Jim King has offered to assist in the development of modern freight car kits
that may cost less and be more work for the modeler as a way to assist our
hobby. There is a challenge involved to settle on a handful of car choices and
sufficient interest so that he has financial incentive to do the project.

As someone who is a modern modeler (last 25 years to present) with idiocycratic
exceptions) I'm trying to facilitate the discussion as to what cars without a
poll. This poll could be useful because rather than being wide open it will
have a list from which to choose. It might be worthwhile for this pole to be
posted to the SSTOT list as well just in case there are hobbiest who are active
only there and not here.

My youngish sage advice (after all I'm not even 55!) is that we focus our
choices on widely seen freight cars rather than our pet project cars. Let's
practice that rare art of compromise and achieve the possible.
