I have used the code 87 NWSL wheels on a number of pieces of rolling stock, with
good results. Using the scale 40" geared ones available for S-Helper switchers
has been more problematical. For some reason, and perhaps it's just me, they
tend to derail unless the track is perfect.

In general, I have observed that on Code 100 and Code 83 flextrack, they pose
no more difficulty than Code 110 wheelsets. On handlaid track, it pretty much
has to be bulletproof since the narrower tread of the wheels magnifies the
slightest variation in gauge so derailments are more likely. Also, if your eyes
are 60+ years old like mine however, getting the car on track requires some
patience, even with a rerailer.

Handlaid turnouts (I use the Fast track turnout jigs)also need more care. I
have found that filling the point rails and frog "gap" with solder, filing it
smooth, and cutting the wheel channels (for lack of a better term)with a piece
of hacksaw blade eliminates the drop into the gap which is more abrupt than
with Code 110 wheels.

They do look great and work well with Ace and AM trucks. Make sure though that
if you are using them on the S-Helper trucks, you get the ones specifically for
those, otherwise they will roll less freely.

Good luck
