  I agree. One of the things I enjoyed when riding in cabooses as a kid was the 
slack action so modeling it makes the trains seem more alive.
  If one is limiting the slack in the coupler care should be taken to not make 
it so stiff as to not be able to move backwards when pushing as the 
coupler/draft gear interface is designed with a flat to keep the pushing forces 
in column. O scale KDs also have this feature but apparently the HO cars are so 
light it is not felt necessary as the #5 types just sit on a round post.
   Until I get a completed running layout I'm not worried about any 
shortcomings  of the 802 couplers as they are the least of my 
problems....DaveBranum
