If I understand things right, the SSPM group was started as an exclusive group for those who show a serious interest in, an aptitude for and are actively involved in prototypical modeling. The reigns on membership are purposely tight to prevent entry of common modelers who tend to be willing to settle for status-quo models that are not as accurate as they could be, folks who and tend to start debates (and flat-out arguements) about what's 'good enough' and/or what is, was, or may never be needed in S scale as is so common on this (S-Scale) group. Nobody should take slow membership approval or membership denial personally... just as a sign that maybe they haven't yet shown a genuine interest in, aptitude for or activity in prototypical modeling. In short, a fellowship of like-minded modelers that build the best, most accurate models they can. The Sn42_Conspiracy_Group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Sn42_Conspiracy_Group/) is much the same way... you must be active and productive to not only become a member but also to remain a member.
