TC,

Thanks for your ideas.

I did some checking and I have a set of S scale Climax truck side frames
from PSC that seem to match some plans I have for Class A and B side frames.
I managed to pick up a unbuilt Backwoods Miniatures kit for an Sn3 20 ton
Class B Climax, and the truck side frames for it are also the same size as
the PSC ones. I also have an Bachmann On30 Climax that I had hoped to
convert to larger Class B in Sn3 but it's truck side frames are definitely
too large for S.

David;

I want to do similar so here goes.

1 truss rod flat car

2 Climax logging trucks

1 Rivarsco or TMW vertical boiler

1 Rivarsco "Marine" engine

1 NWSL # - 10/12x12 motor

1 NWSL # - Transfer case

1 NWSL bevel gears for trucks

The marine engine is a floor line model and the crank shaft is below the
floor. It is protected with a sheet medal shield and we will use this to
hide our motor. The prototype used open gears and you can do this or use
the transfer case, and we want the gear noise. Then shafts to the trucks
and bevel gears as per prototype. Another source for the trucks etc is On30
but that stuff may be too big.

Any Comments,

The hard part will be figuring out how to build the Class A Climax. I'd
like one gauged for Sn3 also, but that one could be a little larger. Cars
would probably just be some wooden disconnects and I'd use link and pin
couplers.
