John....

My son at that age looked at all the alternatives available to him (and there
were many) and decided to join the Army. Having served all over the USA,
Korea, Bosnia (under UN command), Irag, Afghanistan, etc. he recently retired
with a full pension. During that entire time he was never shot at nor even
came close to combat.

He now claims (at the age of 44) that the Army gave him needed structure and
discipline which he was lacking in the beginning.

Currently, he is a conductor employed by the NS and frequently tells his father
that "my trains are bigger than yours". With the Army pension and the NS
paycheck, he is doing quite well, thank you.

He has started construction of a layout room and will soon embark on another
great adventure. Larry Morton is rubbing his hands in great anticipation of
selling lots of track, but it looks like the layout will be in HO (darn). But
I think Larry can sell HO track as well if you are willing to wait a bit for it.

Just some thoughts to consider for an 18 year old person without a goal.

Cheers....Ed L.
