Hello, David!

As best I remember, the G&D ran with standard DC (power pack style) when we 
operated there in the mid 1960's.  John did use three momentum style throttles 
that used a pair of 28 volt (I think) DC motors to gain the effect.  He was a 
true pioneer in many areas.

On one occasion, John allowed us to bring our own motive power to operate.  
That might have been the only time a D&RGW L-131 ran on the G&D.  Everything we 
brought ran really well on his system....that I do remember.  The other strong 
memory was of walking down the stairs into the RR basement and getting a a tad 
dizzy because of the instant transformation to a world of HO scale.  I should 
post the photos I shot that night.  It was one heck of a layout and John was 
one heck of a fine man.  Helpful to even a bunch of us dumb college kids.
