Again, these are merely aspects of the hobby.
I've mention before, I spend 40 hours a week sitting at a workbench, staring
through a magnifyer trying to convince electrons to go where we want them to
go, not where they want to go, so I have little enthusiasm for sitting at my
bench at home, staring through a magnifier trying to convince metal, plastic or
wood to look like what I want it to look like and not what it want's to look
like.
In simple terms, I ejnoyed model building much more when I didn't have to sit
at a bench all week.
But, I can still gain a certain amount of satifaction by simply adding Grandt
Line brake gear to an AM box car and fleshing out some of the missing details,
or by weathering an out of the box SHS or SSA car.
This approach, by some people's definitons, is not modeling. Maybe so, but
it's how the hobby suits my needs during this phase of my life. I guess I
should turn in my model railroader secret decoder ring because of this.
I have nothing but respect for those who can take a box of raw material and
build a superb, accurate model, but sometimes it seems the name of this group
should be changed to the "S Scaler's Modelers Forum." Less detail-oriented S
Scalers need not apply.
